One of the honorees, Reverend Diana Becton Bernstine who is the Contra Costa County District Attorney,
was also the morning preacher. Her topic was the Midwife Dilemma, scripture: Exodus 1:15-21. The main
idea: God empowers the marginalized to resist oppression and be agents of liberation.
The Mid-Wives, Shiphrah and Puah, approached the mid-wife dilemma by choosing:

  1. Life—they did not deny who they were
  2. Faith—they did not deny whose they were
  3. Acted Collectively—they did not deny the sisterhood

There was a call to action for all women to “Get into formation!”
